Housing Market in Park City
As a realtor in Park City, Utah I would like to give you my personal and professional perceptions of what is currently going on in the real estate market here in my beautiful little town.

First of all, the market is not dead, yes it has slowed down quite a bit, however it has become a buyers market. Interestlying enough many buyers out there and they are throwing very low numbers out to sellers...for the most part the sellers are not taking them. Of course there have been a few great buys made. For the most part the sellers are setting thier prices at more realistic numbers or adjusting thier numbers to reflect the true market value now. There are cases of people who MUST sell at a tremdous loss, however the for the majority of Park City sellers this is not the case. The trick is to find theat property (home or land) that was purchased a long time ago at the right price so the current seller may sell and not lose money. This is what your realtor should be researching for you.

The interesting fact for me is this...buyers are a plenty, however they beleive if they wait longer they will get a better deal. I had a client that was a buyer for a vacant lot that knew he was getting a screeming deal, yet his friends talked him out of buying now. No one has a crystal ball, however if you know you are getting a screeming deal I believe you should take it now while it is there.

As I listen to all the economic forecasts, they are really from A to Z on the scope of the real estate market. So the bottom line is...that right now if you know you are getting a great deal you should purchase it now at a great price. If prices go down more...you still have a great deal...if prices start to climb you already won. Also in Park City I have lenders that have money available for mortgages, from both the traditional sources and non-traditional.

Call me anytime and have me do some homework for you, I would enjoy working for you.

Dinner in Park City
AHHHH! Dinner in Park City, you would never imagine how many excellant choices you have to dine here in Park City. For a town of this size we have it all. From a sandwich at Main Street Deli to some of Utah's Finest Dining. With so many choices I am taking a two prong approach...ONE,to tell you my favorites in each segment and TWO, I am giving you a direct link to our...Park City Dining Guide .

Now for my favorites...by segment

Mexican, this would be two to choose from...I know I am suppose to give you my favorites, but it just depends if the Wife and I are looking for a quick casual, authentic, regional Mexican cooking we go to El Chubasco , it is good, fast and very inexpensive. El Chubasco is located Off Main ST. on 1890 Bonanza Dr next to Einstein Bagels. Now if you wish an more upscale different and great approach to your Mexican dishes, I must recommend Cafe Sabor, which is located on in Quarry Village, which is the shopping center out at Jeremy Ranch and Pinebrook exit off I-80. Of course if I am trying to really impress my guests, we take them to Chimayo Restaurant which is Southwest dining at the finest levels, a tad expensive (ok very expensive) but really good.

American , Lots of choices here also in the mid-price range we enjoy Squatters on Park Ave, Windy Ridge on Ironhorse, and the Gateway GRill out in Kamas. For the high priced fine dining our favorite has always been 350 Main, I will be the first to tell you that if you took a survey, alot of people would vote for The Riverhorse, you won't go wrong with either one. Ruth Chris's Steakhouse just came into town a year ago. They are located in Hotel Park City. Also out in the small community of Oakley, a 1930ish original diner was shipped in from New Jersey and refurbished. It is a very inexpensive relaxing dining experience...serves comfort foods like meatloaf, pot roast, etc. and great pies...I reccomend the banana cream pie (made on site).

Now as you can imagine there are several (maybe hundreds) more restaurnats and most a good...there is one or two that hit my palate in a good way, but that is to be expected by anyone. So enjoy your dining and experiment yourself, you will enjoy the search.

Lunch in Park City by Realtor "Ramon
Of course I have different places that I enjoy lunch in Park City. Squatters is located at Kearns and Park Ave. One of the reasons I like eating here is that I always seem to bump into a friend; it is kind of like the place to be. They have a Bourbon Cheese Burger that is great and I also like the Cobb Salad. The service is usually pretty fast even when they are busy. I am not a big beer drinker, however if you are…this is the place since they brew their own.

Another good place is Windy Ridge Café on Ironhorse Dr. The menu is good and they have their own bakery which makes it always a little better. In the summer you eat out on the patio which is nice also.

Now if you want Main Street, I highly recommend “Uptown Faire” which is run by Kayleen. My wife makes no bones about it, this is her favorite place and where a lot of the locals go. The ceiling is so low I have to duck to enter the place, but Kayleen makes all the soups at her home and brings them fresh daily. I don’t have to worry about you liking the soups because they are GOOD….Guarantied!! She also makes great salads and sandwiches…you will be one happy customer.

Breakfast in Park City
OK, so you want to eat breakfast in Park City and you want to know where the locals go…well since I am a local, I will tell you my two favorite places to go, and why.

The first and most favorite is “Main Street Deli” which of course is on Main Street. When I first moved to Park City I rented a neat place on Daily Ave (Main St. turns into Daily at the top of Main)…and I would stroll down to Main Street Deli. This little Deli just makes me very comfortable. It seemed to be where the regulars in PC would come in and the owners seemed to know almost everyone that came in. As time went on I also got to know the owners who are Mike and Barbara. They are both really down to earth neat people. I enjoy talking with them as much as I enjoy the local ambience of the deli. It just feels down home and welcoming…Now concerning the food…it is simply just darn good. It is not fancy, it just taste good. You order your food at the cashier, pour your own coffee and wait for Mike to notify you that your food is ready. Then you go to the counter and pick it up. The meal will be served on paper plates with plastic utensils. My favorite breakfast is the egg sandwich, my daughter (The Monster, yes that is what I have called her since she was 2 years old, and she is now 27) loves the large breakfast burrito, while my wife swears that Mike’s “spinach omelet” is the best in the whole western United States. Now you may be asking yourself…what makes it so good? So, I thought I would tell you what the wife says…the spinach is not cooked, nice and fresh, the bacon is well done, (Mike will see us come in and start burning her bacon) and of course the feta cheese and tomatoes are the perfect compliment. And there are always too many potatoes to eat. Everywhere we go on vacation and if she orders a spinach omelet she always says…”Mike’s is better”, so I ask her why does she order it and I get that look that only wife’s can give. But anyway I guarantee you will enjoy having breakfast at Main Street Deli, as long as you enjoy dining without white tablecloths, the owners will speak to you, the food is good and the atmosphere is real America.

Now I do have another place I enjoy breakfast. It is a little out of town, actually at Parley’s Summit. The “No Worries Café” is located right next to a Sinclair gas station (actually shares the building). Just like Main Street Deli, you will usually find a crowd of locals populating the tables. The servers are always friendly and they know most of the customers too. Of all the items on this menu I truly enjoy the simple “No Worries Breakfast” which is your standard 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast, but I do like their biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. Now my friend, Rick (who is single, and all the waitresses know) likes to eat the “Hack Attack”, which is like everything. The food is good and I know you will enjoy it here also.

Well that does it for breakfast…come back to look again and I will tell you my favorite places for lunch. Enjoy the Day.

Living in Park City
If you are thinking of living in Park City either full time or as a second home, allow me to tell you why I love it here and there is no other place the wife and I wish to live.

The wife and I moved here in May of 2001. Throughout my career I have moved 14 times since college. Of all the wonderfull places we have lived there is no place like Park City. We came here to open Glenwild Golf Club and Spa, a wonderful, beautiful golf community. Golf Digest has rated the Tom Fazio Golf Course the best in Utah every year since it opened. After my job was finsihed at Glenwild we simply decided this is where we want ot live and we enjoyed it too much here. Now I also need to tell you that my children and grandchildren are here which also played in our decision. So of course besides family here is why we love it here.

First of all the sheer beauty of the mountains and landscape. I tell everyone that I live and work inside a postcard. I don't care what season it is, I love it...shoot I even love the Muddy Season (spring). Living here makes you want to be more healthy...wherever you go you see people enjoying the outdoors. Even if you haven't done much exercise in the past...you will WANT to start a new activity or rekindle an old one. As a matter of fact my wife has taken up hiking which she never did before moving here and in the winter we used to cross country ski (21 years ago when we lived in Michigan)...I should also admit that I have taken up hiking these mountains with Jackson our 1 year old German Shepard. I used to do the eclipical machines for 30-45 minutes however I enjoy the hike with Jackson...outside in the Aspens on any one of the many trails in and around Park City. I bet no matter where you live in Park City you could walk/hike to a trail right from your home.

Where ever you go in Park City and the surrounding communities it is just awesome. You will find that your life is just less stressful here. Now I am no shrink or anything like that but how can you not relax in this atmosphere. Where i live (like most homeowners) I wake up, make a pot of coffee and then just enjoy the coffee on my porch looking at Pine Trees and Mountains...just as if I was on vacation.

You will find that the people here are really friendly and I believe that is because of everyone enjoying where they live, the stress reduced lifestyle.

In upcoming blogs I will tell you where our favorite breakfast and lunch establishments are...as well as dinner. We will discuss the "Wine Strolls" on Main Street, the Silly Market on Sunday mornings, hiking trails, motorcycle rides and many other subjects...all to do with why we live here and why you should too.

If you have any question about living in Park City, pls post them here and I will do my very best to get you the honest answer and probably my take on it also...so for now...enjoy the day...
