The Ikon Pass

There has been a special announcement from Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah - Introducing The Ikon Pass! The epic pass now has a competitor. There are not a lot of details at this point including price, but a lot a great resorts including Deer Valley, Snowbird and Alta are part of the group. The 2018-2019 passes are being introduced to the world as Alterra Mountain Company has joined together the continent’s top mountain destinations to offer skiers and riders the Ikon Pass. Here are the partners to the Ikon Pass community:

Aspen Snowmass, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Big Sky Resort, Loon Mountain, Copper Mountain, Eldora Mountain, Sugarloaf, Sunday River, Killington Resort, Alta Ski Area and Snowbird

Skiers and riders will have access to nearly 50,000 skiable acres at 23 like-minded mountain destinations across North America where incredible terrain, unique character and local traditions are celebrated. The Ikon Pass will go on sale in the spring and additional information including access specifics by destination, price, sale date and other pass product details will be announced in the coming weeks. Ikon Pass by the Numbers - 23 destinations located in 9 different states and 3 Canadian Provinces. There are a total of 48,840 acres with 70,192 feet in vertical drop and 2,790 trails with 434 lifts.

In other local news - Park City joins Business Insiders: 13 of the best places to visit if you're planning a vacation in February. There is a reason the United States Ski Team calls Park City, Utah home. Simply put, Park City is a winter sports lover's paradise. The town offers more than 400 downhill trails for skiing and snowboarding covering 3,300 acres. It also hosted events in bobsledding, skeleton, and luge during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

After you hit the slopes, you can take a stroll through the quaint, Old West-style Main Street or catch a show at the famous Egyptian Theater, the site of the Sundance Film Festival in January. Conveniently, a town lift can transport you directly from the mountains to the center of town.
